Ethnic groups in Southeast Asia

Karen

Karen is a very large hilltribe ethnic group mainly found in northern Thailand and makes up nearly half of the entire hilltribe population. They live in many provinces along the western border of Thailand and also in Thailand. Karen tribe originate from Burma and the Thai-Burma border area. Lisa

Lisa are thought to originate from southern China (andProbably from Tibet before), first came to Thailand and Myanmar, about 80 years ago and can be divided into two smaller groups. They are part of the Tibeto-Burman linguistic group and their culture is closely linked to the Chinese. The Chinese New Year is also to celebrate their New Year making sacrifices to their ancestors and spirits of the village guardian spirit. Lahu
