Sampras Vs Federer - Who governs?

Tennis fans around the world spent much of 1990 follows Pete Sampras earned in all the major titles on the ATP tour, including a series of Grand Slam wins, which saw the 'Pistol Pete' to develop a reputation as virtually unbeatable player.

Sampras barely hung its missiles, when in walked a young Swiss player named Roger Federer, who went to where Sampras ended a single fist-dominated men's tennis singles.

After spending four yearsshooting everything but the opposition in the ATP tour, it was inevitable that some would have to start comparing Federer to Sampras, and before we knew that a series of contests between two legends are presented in Malaysia.

Youth vs Experience

To be fair to Pete Sampras, the competition in Malaysia is skewed from the beginning. American retired from professional tennis in 2002, aged 36 and is well past his best in the sport, which sees the top players in their early twenties.

InComparison Roger Federer reached the peak of my career, the 26 years old almost unbeatable on the ATP Tour during the last two years. Purely on the basis of age and the amount of active play it was clear from the start that Sampras' chances were very slim indeed.

As it turned out, Pistol Pete put up a fight in Malaysia after losing the first game of two sets. In the second match Federer won close game which went into tie-breaks in both sets. At this pointpublicists for the tournament probably hit as Sampras made a miraculous turn in the form of beating Federer two sets in Macau.

Any tennis fans who watched the match must realize that competition is not in any way true peace either player's superiority over others. The only way to realistically compare players look at their statistics.

Look at the statistics

To make accurate comparisons with Sampras and Federerskills need to look at
achievements of the former at the age of 26 years. By 1997, Pete Sampras won 10 Grand Slam tournaments, including a run of four victories in both Wimbledon and U.S. Open. For comparison, Roger Federer has 12 Grand Slam title to date, and making improvements in the record Sampras' in every Grand Slam.

Difficult decision

Given the fact that Roger Federer, 53 singles title to his name at the age of 26, while Pete Sampras is gathered in 52same stage of his career, we can see that names, which is the biggest player is a difficult decision. However, purely on the basis of statistics, one has to credit Federer as an excellent player.

Many fans of Pete Sampras' is likely to disagree with this conclusion. After all, Sampras played a much more competitive than Federer era, was often injured in the decider and tame the resistance of world-class players like Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter and Greg Rusedski.

Besides, he had Samprasvery different style of playing Federer, who relied on the incredible focus, preferably in the history of the game a unique style of play, and forehands and backhands. In the last equation, it appears that the only real viable comparison when Federer wraps career, as the Swiss still needs two Grand Slam victories to prove once and for all that he is the greatest male singles player in the history of sport. The Australian Open literally just around thecorner all bets on.
